Character Education Program

Encouraging Leadership! Character Building! Positive Attitudes!

We are excited to provide students with leadership and character building opportunities. Through these values, it is exciting to see students work to build a better community within their classrooms while working on character traits that encourage leadership and positive behavior. Our House mentors continue to discuss leadership and character traits at the middle school level through our adaptation of Tim Elmore’s Habitudes. Additionally, teachers are also discussing specific topics in our elementary grades that encourage these values.

Students in grade three have begun to look at specific topics to encourage positive character traits. Since the beginning of the year they have explored topics such as responsibility and respect as a class. While STJ students display outstanding traits, we recognize the importance of exploring and discussing these topics with students.

As scripture reminds us, setting an example and leading ourselves in a Christ pleasing way is important.  These conversations with students help foster our value of faith development, but also support our mission of developing and equipping students to courageously serve Christ in a changing world.  We know that when students are able to understand and put into practice positive character traits, they not only become stronger, but they are also able to develop a stronger sense of community by establishing mutual respect and relationships within their classes.

We are excited to work with students as they develop these virtues. It is encouraging to witness student growth in these essential areas.  May God continue to bless STJ as we together nurture student traits that support our value of faith, academics, and community!

In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. - Titus 2:7-8
