Student Progress Conferences - Next Week
Student Progress Conferences will be held next week on March 26 and 28. Families with students in K-2 will have the opportunity to sign up for a conference time through the St. John Information Course in Canvas at: https://stjls.instructure.com/
Families with students enrolled in our Early Childhood Program will have the opportunity to sign up via the web through their child's homeroom teacher. We look forward to meeting with you next week.
We are excited to launch this year’s school survey to you. The following survey consists of 6 different topics/sessions, and will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Our survey will be open for the next several weeks for families in EC through Grade 8. The overall goal of this survey is transparency, and a partnership with you. We want to make sure we are doing everything we can in order for you to continue to call St. John your home. Thank you so much for your willingness to help make us even better! Please click here to access the survey.
Upcoming Standardized Tests
Students will be taking their standardized tests during the week of April 9 - 13. As we look ahead to our testing week, we are excited to announce that STJ will be utilizing a more current assessment this year. While the test information that parents receive will be similar, the test experience will look differently for our students. As a result, Grades 3 - 8 will take their test online through a testing portal provided by Iowa Assessments, the name of our new test. Grades K-2 will continue to utilize paper assessments. In addition, we are pleased to announce that the cost of this shift was very minimal due to the supplemental funding support we received from the organization LESA (Lutheran Elementary Schools Association) who partners with several Lutheran School in the area.
Upcoming Fun Run
We are excited to announce an upcoming Fun Run for STJ. This event is a unique opportunity to support STJ by raising funds while focusing on building character in our students. Throughout the experience, students will learn how to be brave and live with character through the theme “Castle Quest.” As students prepare for the day of the run, they will learn the “6 Virtues of being a True Hero” by exploring the themes of Focus, Life Learner, Respect, Trustworthiness, Self Awareness, and Creativity. Family and friends will have the opportunity to support STJ by giving pledges for the number of laps their student runs on the day of the Fun Run on April 18. We are looking forward to this opportunity for our students and school.
School Auction Follow Up
Student, Adult and Family Sign Up Parties are still open for bidding. Please visit the school office to sign up this week. Sign Up Parties are great way to be a part of the St. John School Community.
Upcoming Box Top Collection
St. John will be collecting Box Tops for Education starting next week on March 26. Make sure you are keeping those box tops to send into school. The collection will last for 2 weeks. We appreciate your support through Box Tops!
Thank you to the many STJ families who have walked through the re-enrollment process. We have received some great feedback regarding the new online process and look forward to expanding this service for the future. If you have not yet enrolled, it is time to walk through this process. We utilize our enrollment to help prepare elements for the 2018-2019 school year. We are honored to serve your family and ask that you contact the office if you have any questions regarding the enrollment process.
