We woke this morning to thunder and a light rain. No worries! We have a great big God who knows His kids in the village were super excited to have their pictures taken during the last day of Bible school. We exercised our faith muscles and put on our sunscreen and packed our sunglasses.
When we arrived at the community center, we hopped out of the vans and saw a few kids waiting for us. Not many but a few. No worries! It's early. It's only a light rain. We open the doors and set up the picture station. And it starts raining harder. (I start to wonder if God is going to do something...you see, the villagers are still a bit superstitious about rain...being in the rain makes you get sick and die...or something like that ) As Sue and I stand there and chat, I wonder, do we need to take a step of faith and get started taking pictures even though there isn't a critical mass gathered? (Being on event time can hard for us clock time people.)
So I head downstairs to solve other problems while the rain keeps falling. A bit later, we get the go ahead from Sue. It's still drizzly but go for it. We start the music, the singing and dancing, the picture taking...and the kids keep coming. We see them walking down the road. We see them lining up nicely in their best dresses and cleanest shirts. We see them waiting patiently for their turn to enter the building. We see them shaking their Polaroid pictures and sharing them with others. And we see the rain stopping and the sun coming out.
We see God's faithfulness to bring sunshine and a breeze to the village so they can be with us and hear God's Word to strengthen their faith. Thanks God, for helping us take steps of faith to build our faith muscles!
